Description
Dense double Scabious like flowers in strong cherry red make this a useful cut flower item.
Sowing Instructions
Sow on to a moist seed sowing compost in a 576 plug tray or similar size unit cover lightly with vermiculite and propagate at 18 to 20c. Germination should begin to take place after about 10 days. Grow the seedlings on as cool as possible and shade from extremes of direct sunlight.
Growing Instructions
Grow on as cool as possible and when the seedlings are established enough to cover the tray pot into 10cm or 1 litre pots to over winter in a well ventilated unheated glasshouse tunnel or cold frame for plants for sale in May-June the following year. Knautia can be grown successfully as a cut flower and should be planted outdoors in March to produce a crop for July-August.
